Electronic Contact Assignment!!

Dr. Strange had the below on his blog. Good suggestion. Don't waste time, we meet only five more times!

"Have You Contacted A Teacher From Somewhere Else Yet? If Not, A Suggestion!
While preparing for my podcast, I found a website that is a great way to connect with other teachers. Go to TEACHERS.NET and look for the chatboard. There you will find requests from teachers for penpals for their students. Make a contact and get your homework done."

Don't forget about your ACCESS assignment. Time is running out.

Blog Posting Requirements

There seems to be a little confusion. Please make a post to YOUR blog regarding Mr. Sullivan's presentation. I'm sure he welcomes your post to his blog site, but also put a post on your blog. Also, for the blog assignments for the remainder of the semester, use the list that I gave you from Dr. Strange. This list is also linked to on this blog. Thanks.

Additional Bog Assignment for October 15th

1. For the blog post due Wednesday October 15th, write two or more paragraphs in which you describe the Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) and the resources available to teachers well enough so that someone unfamiliar with AVL would understand what it is and how it works. Then provide the reader with your thoughts as to the usefulness of AVL to you when you begin teaching. (Alabama Virtual Library Website)

2. Post your comments on the the ACCESSIBILITY FOR ALL presentation you saw in person or looked at online and describe what you learned and how the information can help you as an educator in the future. (Mr. Sullivan's Presentation)

Special thank you to Mr. Tashbin for his ideas.

Blog Topics - CHANGES

After reviewing Dr. Strange's "Blog Assignments Part 2", I have decided to go with those topics INSTEAD of the current schedule. I will update the syllabus and reload to e-companion. The only difference between the one you received in class and this version are the due dates. All blogs are due Wednesday by midnight prior to Thursday's class.

In that this week's assignment is to watch Randy Pausch's Last Lecture, which is over an hour long, I recommend you do not wait till the last minute to complete this assignment.

Presentations - Good Job!

I really enjoyed your presentations last night. Please upload your presentation to the e-companion drop box labeled "Presentation Instructions". If you have trouble, don't worry, next week during class we will make sure everyone's presentations are uploaded to e-companion. Once ALL presentations are loaded into e-companion, I will review your presentations again and assign grades - approximately two weeks from now. Keep up the good work.

Plagiarism Document

I hope this post finds everyone safe and sound.

The first week of class I requested that you download the plagiarism statement located in e-companion's document sharing, update the document with your name, etc (located near the bottom of the document) and resubmit to me through your drop box. To date, only three have been turned in that I can read. Please do this ASAP. If you have already submitted to me, please check the message statement in that one document was corrupted and would not download properly.

If you are having problems downloading the document, please let me know.

New Links under Handouts

As seen to your right, I have added several new links. These links are the instructions for several of your projects that you will be doing this semester. I have also included a link to Dr. John Strange's EDM 310 class blog. Check it out to see what your classmates are doing.

Even though this blog contains several of your instruction sheets for your assignment, please download the ones listed on your e-companion page. Your e-companion site will have the most up to date information that I am using.

Do not hesitate at any time to contact me with your questions.

Bambe - right in my own front yard!

This is a picture of a medium sized doe that was crossing my front yard. The doe is standing in a wooded area between several trees on top of beautiful green grass.
This picture is of the same doe that is describe in the first picture except the doe is facing toward the camera.
Look what was just in my front yard! I love Mother Nature!!!!

Blog Sites

You blog's are coming along quite nicely. Most of you have setup your blogs and some of you have done a very nice job on your first assignment. For those of you who have not setup your blogs at all, I highly recommend that you do not wait till the last minute.

As a reminder for this week, your blog assignment for this week is to make TWO post to your blog site. One, tell us a little bit about yourself. Two, give us an insight as to what your presentation will cover.

Additionally, do not forget to down load the "Student Acknowledgment of Plagiarism and Penalty" from e-Companion document sharing. Edit the document, save, and load into the "Plagiarism" drop box.

Despite the "bumps" with Google last Thursday night, I feel this is going to be a great semester. Take care and try to stay dry this weekend. See you Thursday.
